Mary Magnuson is a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she plans to study
evolutionary biology and genetics. When she isn’t studying, she will likely be found in a lab doing
research, working late nights in the library, writing her second novel, drinking coffee, and compulsively
daydreaming. She started Our Science as a way to connect everyone, especially young people, to the
STEM issues that matter most and encourages each of her readers to find their own inner scientist by

Alena is a high school senior from Illinois, USA. She’s still in the college selection process, but she plans to major in biology and to continue on to graduate school. She’s interested in ecology, genetics, and bioethics. She also loves French and literature. In her free time, she loves to read, write, and ride her bike wherever she can. "Hello, I'm Juliane from Germany. I have an Master of Science in Biotechnology. During my studies, my favorite topic became molecular virology. My interests are mostly in the genetic and gene technology section, given my medical microbiology background. In private, I'm obsessed with planning, I enjoy creative writing, and I love reading books as well as fanfictions."

science and maths. Her interests in science are mainly physics, astronomy and maths, although many

My goal is to eventually research and further develop quantum computers and related technologies. As for hobbies, I’ve played violin for over a decade and I’ve recently taken up piano as well.
